Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has said that he will boost the number of his most recent political appointments to 100,000.
In a Friday media interview in Port Harcourt with a few journalists, Governor Wike made this revelation.
But he added that the appointees are free to be removed if the new administration is unable to meet their financial obligations.
The governor said they are Rivers residents in order to support his plan to appoint more personnel.

He said “The people appointed are they not Rivers people? Will they not be paid salaries?
“I can tell you now this morning we met, we are going to increase it to 100,000.
“This is part of what we promised our people, if the next government come and cannot go with it, it is not tied to continue with it”.
The governor explained that the people are appointed to enable them gather information from the unit levels so the government would know how it is performing.
