Buhari’s Media Aide, Femi Adesina, emailed Jonathan his condolences on Friday.
The president stated that he joined other Nigerians in praying for the deceased’s rest.
He advised the bereaved families to take comfort and see their loved ones’ deaths as a sacrifice to the country.
Despite the disaster, Buhari warned his predecessor not to be sidetracked from his peacekeeping operations, pushing him to continue on track.
“Let me express gratitude to Almighty God for having President Jonathan escape unhurt from the accident, but not to be distracted from his frequent local and international travels which are linked to peacebuilding at home and abroad,” Buhari said in his condolence message.
