Six people have reportedly been killed in Delta State’s Oko Oshimili South Local Government Area as a result of a thunderstorm that wrecked havoc on Wednesday evening.
Buildings were also destroyed in Okwe and Issele-Azagba as a result of the downpour.
Mr Charles Aniagwu, the state Commissioner for Information, verified the incident on Thursday in Asaba, saying five others with varying degrees of injury were being treated at the hospital.
“Six people were killed by rain and windstorms in the Oko Community area,” he stated.

In a related development, Aniagwu said a 10-year-old boy was swept away by a flood at the Okotomi area of Okpanam Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
He said the State Government was coordinating rescue efforts to recover the body.
