Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has initiated legal proceedings against Sophia Momodu regarding the custody of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke. The suit, marked LD/1587PMC/2024 and dated April 17, 2024, has Davido listed as the applicant and Ms. Sophia Momodu as the sole respondent. The case has been filed in the Lagos State High Court.
In his suit, Davido is seeking an order from the court that grants joint custody of their daughter, Imade. Additionally, he is requesting the court to provide an order for unfettered and unrestricted access to his daughter. Davido emphasized that even though his relationship with Momodu, which led to the birth of Imade, ended years ago, he has consistently met his financial responsibilities for the child’s wellbeing.
Davido stated in the suit that he has been fully responsible for Imade’s school fees and has also provided financial support for the rent of the apartment where Momodu resides with their daughter. Despite these contributions, he accused Momodu of making unreasonable demands that frustrate his efforts to be involved in his daughter’s life.
One of the significant points of contention highlighted in the suit is the housing arrangement. Davido claimed that he offered Momodu an apartment worth N200 million in a luxurious condominium gated community at Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos. The apartment features amenities such as a swimming pool and 24-hour power and water supply. However, Momodu allegedly rejected this offer and demanded that Davido continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility instead.
Further, Davido mentioned that he purchased a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle specifically for the use of their daughter and Momodu. This vehicle was intended to meet their transportation needs, including taking Imade to and from school. Despite this provision, Davido claimed that his efforts were still met with frustration.
