The 9th House’s final session is now going on in the House of Representatives.
The conference includes previous speakers Patricia Etteh and Ghali Na’Abbas.
The speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, thanked the lawmakers for their work over the previous four years, which included the passage of important laws like the Public Interest Disclosure Act and the Electoral Act, among others.
He voiced concern over the 9th House’s inability to pass a number of women’s rights proposals that the House had rejected in 2022.

Gbajabiamila also requested that the next House take on the responsibility of passing gender-related legislation.
It would be recalled that Gbajabiamila was appointed as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
The next Assembly will be inaugurated on Tuesday.
