Asari Dokubo, a former militant commander, claims that Rivers State would be unable to hold genuine elections as long as Governor Nyesom Wike, Rotimi Amaechi, and Magnus Abe fight for power.
In an exclusive interview with THE WHISTLER, Dokubo said that the leaders of the state’s two major political parties will sabotage any election because of their fierce rivalry.
Their mentality and inclination toward power, according to the ex-militants, would not ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election in the state.

“How can you expect a free and fair election here in Rivers State when the party leaders are fighting amongst themselves, inciting splits and disputes in the state?” he asks.
“They haven’t been able to find interior peace and understanding.” The state’s ruling party will go to any length to keep its grip on power. The leaders of the opposing party are also battling amongst themselves.
“While Magnus Abe and Amaechi argue over who is superior in the APC, Wike and Amaechi fight over who is superior in the state.”
“Now tell me how this state will ever have free and fair elections.” When the governor and the Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, are hell-bent on killing each other”.
