The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Sunday Osagie and Ayodele Adeolu, in connection with the alleged robbery of skitmaker Ekwutousi Philo. The incident was prompted by a video posted by Philo on October 20, in which she claimed to have been robbed by some individuals who posed as policemen in the Alapere area of Ketu, Lagos State.
In response to the viral video, the Rapid Response Squad unit of the Lagos Police Command swung into action and arrested Sunday Osagie, aged 31, who was seen in the video with the skitmaker. Osagie had previously worked as a spy/mechanic for the Lagos State Government but was dismissed from the public service in April 2023 for various reasons, including absence from duty without permission and extortion of money from citizens.
Ayodele Adeolu, aged 45, was also arrested in connection with the case. Additionally, the police recovered two vehicles – a ‘korope’ with the registration number LA 910 FST and a Toyota Yaris Verso with the registration number FST 656 JD.
The suspects and the seized vehicles have been transferred to the Lagos Police Command for further investigation. The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, is overseeing the case.
This development comes as a response to the allegations made by Ekwutousi Philo and underscores the importance of promptly addressing such claims and conducting thorough investigations.
