The Mercedes Sports Utility Vehicle and two pump action rifles were found by Anambra State Police Command agents abandoned in a ditch by alleged kidnappers.
While on patrol along the Uga-Ezinifite Motorway in the state’s Aguata Local Government Area, police officers assigned to the Forward Operating Base pursued the vehicle after spotting the driver travelling at an unsafe and suspiciously high pace.
The car, a Mercedes GLK 350 4matic with the licence plate ENU484JV, was found and transferred to the Uga headquarters of the Area Command.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police’s public relations officer, revealed this in a statement on Sunday.
Ikenga said, “On Thursday, August 3, 2023, at about 8.30pm, a detachment of police-led Forward Operating Base at Aguata while on patrol on the Uga-Ezinifite Expressway saw an SUV drive past at a terrible speed. Suspecting that they may be kidnappers with an abducted victim, the team went in pursuit.
“Several kilometres later, the team found the vehicle in a ditch but without any occupant.
“They found clothing with blood stains in the vehicle as well as two pump action guns and a machete. The vehicle, a wine-coloured Mercedes GLK 350 4matic with number plate ENU484 JV was recovered and deposited for safekeeping at Area Command Headquarters in Uga.”
Aderemi Adeoye, the state commissioner of police, had praised the Joint Security Team for its vigilance but had also ordered a thorough inquiry to find the owner of the car, he continued.
