The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended nine individuals suspected of being involved in internet fraud. The arrests occurred on Monday in the Wuye area of Abuja following an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Commission’s Abuja Zonal Directorate.
In a statement posted on Tuesday via X, the EFCC announced, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Directorate, have arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters. They were arrested on Monday, 29 July 2024, at Wuye axis of Abuja following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related fraud.”

During the operation, several items were seized from the suspects, including 19 phones, one car, four laptops, and one iPad. The EFCC stated its intention to pursue legal action against the suspects, confirming, “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
