According to reports, contenders including former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, industrialist Sam Ohabunwa, and Nwachukwu Anakwenze may have reached an agreement to promote Obi as the South East’s consensus candidate.
The hopefuls reportedly met after the party’s zoning committee, led by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, suggested that the presidential ticket be opened.
Meanwhile, the PDP is thought to be seeking to restrict the number of presidential candidates entering Saturday’s primaries.
The party is reportedly working with Senator David Mark’s primary committee to cut the number of candidates to a manageable amount before the election.
