The Nigerian football star joined joined Stoke City after leaving Turkish giants Trabzonspor and has been one of the best players in the English second division this year.
O’Neill who has the mandate of promoting Stoke City to the Premier League at the end of the season stated clearly that the players have benefited from Mikel Obi’s experience.
Mikel Obi is not a newcomer in the English football having played for Premier League side Chelsea and also won the EPL title and Champions League with the Blues.
“I think you need good experience in the team and good structure as well. John Obi is a big part of that, helping organise people around himself.
“The most important thing is when you win it, is that the players you have can hurt the opposition and we have that in Campbell, Brown, Powell and Fletcher.”
Mikel Obi has so far played 12 games for Stoke City this season in the Second Division and he is yet to score any goal.
Stoke City are currently occupying seventh position on the Championship table with 21 points after 12 games played so far this term.
