In an unusual turn of events, three teenagers found themselves in front of a Grade I Area Court in Lugbe, Abuja, facing charges of causing public nuisance in the vicinity of the residence of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The teenagers, identified as Nasiru Abdullahi (18), Usman Jabrin (17), and Aliyu Adamu (18), all without a fixed address, were arraigned on counts of conspiracy and public nuisance. Despite the charges against them, they pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the court on Friday, September 22.
According to the prosecutor, Stanley Nwaforaku, the defendants were apprehended by Inspector Godwin Gabriel and his patrol team from the Asokoro Police Station. The teenagers were allegedly causing a disturbance near Nyesom Wike’s residence, despite warnings from law enforcement officers.

During the police investigation, the teenagers reportedly failed to provide satisfactory explanations for their actions. Consequently, they were brought before the court.
The presiding judge, Malam Aliyu Kagarko, decided to remand the defendants in custody until their relations could be located. He further adjourned the case to October 13, 2023, for further proceedings.
