The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has stated that a two-week warning strike will begin.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the two-week industrial action would begin on Monday.
The decision was made at an emergency meeting of the Union’s National Executive Council on Wednesday, according to reports.
The planned strike, according to ASUP President Anderson Ezeibe, was orchestrated by the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.

The federal government, according to ASUP, has refused to satisfy its demand.
The non-release of the agreed N15 billion revitalization money for the sector, which was approved by the President 11 months ago, is one of the demands.
“Non-release of arrears of the new minimum wage: The owed 10 months arrears for the Polytechnics is yet to be released. The composite amount covering all Federal Tertiary Institutions to the approximate figure of N19Bn currently exists as an AIE in the Accountant Generals Office.
“We are deploying this medium to equally appeal to members of the public to prevail on the government to do the needful within the two weeks period so as to avoid an indefinite shutdown of the sector,” the union said in a statement.

Remember that the Union called off its strike on April 6, 2021, and resumed it on June 10, 2021, after signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the government.
