Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged Delta State Commissioner of Police Ari Muhammad Ali to apprehend the perpetrators of a mosque attack in Ugelli, Delta State, on Friday.
Gunmen stormed a mosque in Ugelli, shooting 11 Muslim worshippers and kidnapping the imam.
In a statement made on Saturday by MURIC’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, MURIC denounced the attack.
Muslims, according to the Islamic organisation, have become an endangered species in Delta State and throughout the South East.

The statement reads in part: “This is a dastardly act that must be condemned by all right-thinking people and we condemn it in the strongest terms.
“It will be recalled that the Secretary of the Delta State Muslim Council, Mallam Musa Ugasa, a resident of Ughelli, was brutally killed earlier this year by yet-to-be-identified persons
“The latest attack on Ughelli Central Mosque is one too many.”
It added, “MURIC calls on the Commissioner of Police in Delta State Ari Muhammad Ali, to fish out the perpetrators.”
