The United States Government has pledged to assist Nigeria in finding the assassins of two police officers and Nigerian officials in Anambra.
In the Ogbaru Local Government Area on Tuesday, a group of unidentified attackers ambushed a motorcade of two US government vehicles.
Nine Nigerian nationals, five U.S. Mission staffers, and four Nigeria Police Force (NPF) personnel were all traveling in the convoy.

The party was in route to Anambra, Nigeria, in preparation for a visit to a flood response project supported by the American government.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that America does not yet know the reason for the incident or whether it was directed at the Mission in a statement the consulate released Wednesday night.
“The assailants killed at least four members of the convoy. U.S. agencies are collaborating with Nigerian counterparts to ascertain the location and condition of victims unaccounted for.
“We condemn in the strongest terms this attack. We will work closely with our Nigerian law enforcement colleagues in seeking to bring those responsible to justice,” Blinken promised.

The U.S. expressed sincere sympathies to the families of those slain in the incident and stated that the safety and security of its people are its top priority.
The statement also underlined America’s unwavering commitment to working with the Nigerian people to combat violence and instability.
