Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Imo State, has denied a viral video depicting him stepping down before of Saturday’s election.
According to Anyanwu, the viral video was modified to influence and confuse the state’s electorate.
Anyanwu encouraged people in the state to disregard the video in a statement issued by the Director of his campaign council, Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu, on Friday.
He connected the false video to miscreants.

The statement reads: “The SamJones Governorship Campaign Council is compelled to address a malicious video circulating, falsely claiming that our esteemed candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, has withdrawn from the gubernatorial race.
“We emphatically state that this information is categorically FALSE. After a thorough examination of the video, it became evident that it was heavily edited with manipulated audio to mislead the public.”
On Saturday, Anyanwu will challenge the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma, in a hotly contested governorship race.
The PDP candidate claimed confidence in taking power from Uzodinma.
