As the holiday season draws near, Edo’s Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Dankwara, has sent out a strong warning to the locals.
During the holiday season, the police leadership has formally outlawed the usage and sale of crackers and pyrotechnics.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stressed to reporters that the prohibition covers both purchasers and sellers and that those who disobey it will face legal action.

He stated, “The command wishes to inform the public, particularly marketers, buyers and users of pyrotechnics such as fireworks, firecrackers, popularly known as knock-out, and their likes that the ban on the use of these items is still in force.”
The directive’s goals are to protect everyone’s safety and keep the peace throughout the festivities.
He also advised locals to abide by the prohibition, stressing that law enforcement will be on the lookout to implement it.
