Abia State Governor Alex Otti would rejoin the All Progressives Congress, or APC, according to Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, who called him a wayward son.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the governor of Abia switched from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the APC in 2020.
He joined the Labour Party shortly after, and using their platform, he easily won the general elections of 2023.
Gov Otti React Over Ministerial Appointment of Bianca Ojukwu By Tinubu
In his remarks at the Abia International Airport groundbreaking ceremony, Keyamo said that the governor had “strayed” from them.
“Today is not the day for politics, he strayed away, he was with us, he strayed away like the prodigal son.”
He also revealed that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to locate the airport in Nsulu stems from his love for Otti.
“The President’s motivation was also the fact that he loves the governor of this state, he loves his spirit. I know the comments he has made about the governor of this state and how much people here loves him so much.”
The airport’s groundbreaking ceremony follows a protest on December 1 by the residents of Nsulu in the Isiala Ngwa North Area of Abia State over the government’s use of communal property for the proposed project.
