Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has urged graduating students to use their education to improve their communities and effect change.
This was revealed by Obi on Sunday during his keynote speech at the Jesuit Memorial College’s sixth graduation ceremony in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to speak to the nation’s future and brightest brains as they graduate from high school and head out into the workforce to pursue further studies and other endeavours.

In his words, ” Today, I delivered a Keynote address at the 6th Graduation Ceremony of Jesuit Memorial College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State where I took time to encourage the graduating students who were going into the wider world to either continue their educational pursuits or to face other productive endeavours.
“As always, I was glad to interact with the young students whose future we must invest in through our investment in this very critical measure of development – education.
“As future leaders of our society, they must appreciate the education they have received so far and then become change agents in society,” he stated.
Obi further lamented how the Nation lags because enough investment has not been made in the educational sector.

” Our nation today is underdeveloped because we have not invested sufficiently in education”.
Nonetheless, Obi inspired the graduating students by talking about his own educational experience and emphasising the significance of concentrating on productivity rather than self-interest.
“In encouraging the students, I shared my journey to success with them and urged them to remain productive wherever they subsequently find themselves, and not be fixated on material gains,” he added.
