The Federal Government has re-filed 24-count charges against Abba Kyari, the suspended deputy police commissioner.
The Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, J. Sunday, reportedly filed the new 24-count charges against Kyari on August 30, 2022, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
According to what is known, new charges were brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja under charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/408/22.

Mohammed Kyari and Ali Kyari, who are the siblings of the former Intelligence Response Team commander, are co-defendants in the case (IRT).
Additionally, the Federal Government filed separate 24-count charges against Sunday Ubua, an Assistant Commissioner of Police and Kyari’s former deputy who is currently on suspension.
Kyari was the subject of a general and financial investigation when he was transferred by the police to the NDLEA headquarters on February 14, 2022, according to an affidavit in support of the charge provided by Stephen Kashawa, a litigation officer with the Directorate of Prosecution and Legal Services, NDLEA.
He continued by saying that charges for non-disclosure and the conversion of sizable quantities of money were filed as a result of the financial inquiry that included his properties.

Kashawa added that all the witnesses were available to continue the trial and that the case was prepared for it.
The Federal Government has also discovered 14 assets, including Kyari’s ownership of properties, farms, a polo field, and shopping centers.
Over N207 million and £17.598 were also found by the authorities in Kyari’s numerous accounts at GTB, UBA, and Sterling Bank.
According to reports, Kyari failed to reveal that he owned homes in several parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to the Federal Government, Kyari intentionally violated section 35(3)(a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, CAP N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, by failing to disclose all of his assets at plot number 1927 Blue Fountain Estate, Karsana, Abuja.

The prosecutor further claimed that the troubled DCP failed to disclose his ownership of an estate at Linda Chaulker Road, Asokoro Extension, plots Nos. 5 and 33, BO/4319 in Maiduguri, Borno State, and Nos. 9 and 10, CER/4319.
The AGF also claimed that the suspended DCP had concealed his ownership of two Maiduguri properties: a shopping center with the address NE/1229 and a polo field with the plot number 270.
Additionally, according to the accusations, the former IRT commander failed to disclose fully that he was the owner of lands along the Abuja-Kaduna highway and a plaza that was still under development in Guzape, Abuja.
Kyari was accused of deposing to an affidavit at the Federal High Court in Maiduguri in suit number, FHC/NG/CS/9/2022 in an effort to conceal the ownership of a plot of land covered by Certificate of Occupancy no: 000271 issued by Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, Borno State, in violation of section 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act.

The AGF also charged Kyari with lying on an affidavit to conceal his ownership of land No. 9, BOTP/63, which is covered by the Certificate of Occupancy No. NE/1229, and a shopping center at No. 4, Aliyu Close, along Giwa Barracks, Maiduguri.
The allegations showed that the DCP purposefully transferred money from his GTB account number 0121075250, his GTB account number 0138360064, his UBA account number 1002250112, and his Sterling Bank account number 0072451994 totaling N28.4 million, N65.2 million, N95 million, and N16.9 million.
