Two handwritten statements given by the primary suspect Chidinma Ojukwu in the alleged murder of the former Super TV chief executive officer, Usifo Ataga, have been entered into evidence by the Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square.
On Thursday, Justice Yetunde Adesanya stated that the prosecution had established the voluntariness of the defendant’s admissions beyond a reasonable doubt.
During the trial within a trial, where the defendant contested the admissibility of the witness’s testimony, the judge made this statement.

Through her attorney Onwuka Egwu, Ms. Ojukwu claimed that her remarks were not given freely.
The defendant claimed that she was slapped and coerced into signing documents that were not her own.
The former University of Lagos undergraduate is accused of killing Ataga together with Adedapo Quadri and her sister Chioma Egbuchu.
Justice Adesanya’s decision on Thursday was as follows: “The recordings presented in court did not show any intimidation of the defendant when she was drafting her remarks.
“The voice of the investigating police officer (IPO) was clear and audible. It did not show any form of intimidation.”

As a result, the judge designated the two statements as exhibits and entered them into evidence.
The case was postponed until May 30 so that the trial could continue.
