Israel Joe, a human rights campaigner from the Niger Delta, has advised Nigerian workers not to celebrate the increase in the minimum wage to N70,000.
In a statement sent to reporters in Warri, Delta State, Comrade Joe expressed this outburst.
Remember that Bola Tinubu announced the new minimum wage of N70,000 on Thursday.

He bemoaned the fact that a nation of such wealth would have to pay a minimum salary of less than fifty dollars to its workers.
He went on to say that if the minimum pay of ₦70,000 benefits civil servants, it ought to benefit politicians as well.
In his words, “Our workers have finally settled for servitude and slavery.
“My simple opinion is that the minimum wage can’t even purchase a bag of rice and we should not joy over what we should sorrow over,” he added.
