The Imo State Police Command and her Legal department, have violated a court order mandating the release of personal effects belonging to the arrested women of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The items claimed to still be in Police custody include: Two Sixty-Sitter Buses, Hand Bags, Phones, Money, ATM Cards, Wristwatches, Shoes and other personal belongings.
IPOB Legal Team served the order with court Seal, to the Office of the Commissioner of Police and Deputy commissioner of Police, which was received and signed. The order was transferred to the prosecutor who prosecuted the Women at Magistrate court, however, as at press time, the Police command reportedly refused to release the listed belongings of IPOB Women.
According to reports, SP Thaddeus Okey in charge of the O.C Legal/Prosecution Department in Imo State Police Command has allegedly violated the court order continuously, stating that certain conditions must be met before the Police can obey.
Recall that on the 17th Of August 2018, Imo State Police Command arrested over Hundred IPOB Women, Charging them with treason. The Women were remanded in Owerri Prisons, as the court denied them bail.
However, the charges were struck out on the 24th Of August 2018 as the Women regained their freedom. The court also ordered that all properties belonging to the Women be released, which was violated by the Imo State Police command, as bribery was spelt out as the only option to obey court orders.
The IPOB Legal Team has already threatened to take legal actions against the Imo State Police Command for Human right infringement and other charges, until every item kept in Police custody is released.
