Nura Iliyasu who was reported to have climbed a telecommunication mast in protest to the leadership failures of President Buhari, has spoken up.
In a brief interview with journalist, Nura Iliyasu spoke shortly stating that his decision to climb the mast was not hinged on support for any politician.
What is your name?
My name is Nura Iliyasu. I was born 28 years ago. What I did is within the law, it is my human right to protest peacefully, I never threatened my life or any other third parties life.

What was the reason for climbing the mast?
What we are going through in this country is not from God, some microscopic few individuals hijacked all that God endowed Nigeria with for a decent life. We can’t continue like this, I climbed up for a seven-day hunger strike to protest incompetency and cluelessness, to protest presidential impunity and general docility displayed by the masses.
We can’t continue like this. I don’t believe Gen. Buhari deserves another four-year term in Nigeria because the pervasive hunger and poverty in Nigeria is inexplicable. There is no way for a country that is among the top-six countries in oil production to have citizens who find getting one square meal a day a hard task. We cannot prove that; we cannot explain that.
So this is my reason for being here, I did not threaten anybody’s life, I did not threaten my life. I don’t have any mental disorder as being insinuated by some people in some quarters. So, this is my reason for being up there.

How do you feel now that you are down?
I am full of life, I am mentally stable, I am full of life.

What message are you trying to pass?
Other competent candidates are there even Saraki, even Atiku, even Kwankwaso, even Tambuwal can stir the ship. Other competent candidates are there. At least one of these five will make a good president; Saraki, Atiku, Kwankwaso, Tambuwal, or Dankwabo should come there.
Who are you supporting by doing this?
I don’t have any sponsorship and I am doing it for nobody.
