ANAMBRA: REPORTS ON POLICE OFFICERS’ PLANNED STRIKE MISLEADING, MISCHIEVOUS – PPRO

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Anambra State Police Command, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, has dismissed the rumour of police officers’ planned strike in Anambra, describing the information as malicious, misleading and mischievous.

The information taking the centre stage presently on the social media is that officers in the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police in Anambra State have mobilized themselves to go on strike over what they described as nonpayment of their 2017 promotion allowances.

According to the report, the officers are entitled to N400,000 of accumulated allowances since December last year and the police authorities continued to withhold them without giving any reasons.

But the PPRO, who clarified the issue when contacted by Anaedoonline, said the police authorities have got to know about the information flooding the social media; but insisted that they were false.

“The information making waves in the social media about planned strike action by some officers in the Anambra State Police Command over nonpayment of allowances is a falsehood, and an information construed and concocted to tannish the good image of the Anambra State Police Command”, he said.

PPRO Mohammed, said the Command is not owing any officer; adding that it will soon write a rejoinder to keep the record straight.
