FIRE OUTBREAK: HOTEL’S BUSH BAR IN AWKA  BURNS DOWN

The bush bar section of the King David Hotel, Awka. was burnt down yesterday

The fire started around half past eleven o’ clock in the night completely destroyed the bush bar.

When a news agency arrived at the hotel, both the management and sympathizers were wearing a sorrowful look over the situation.

Speaking to the, news agency the Director and Chief Fire Officer of the State, Engineer Martin Agbilli said that he received a distress call from a good Nigerian that is not a staff of the hotel, notifying him that the hotel was on fire, and he immediately mobilized and rushed to the place and was able to put off the fire.

Engineer Agbili who advised residents of the state to always cut off all bushes ten meters away from their buildings, appealed to people that have thatched roof in their hotel or houses to always wet the thatched areas to avoid fire outbreaks.

He gave out emergencies number to call in such situations as 09077044410 for Agu Awka station and 09077411503 for Eze-Uzu junction, Agu Awka.

The Senior Supervisor of the Hotel, Mr Peter Uga said that the damage caused by the inferno was over five million naira.

The fire was said to have started as a result of an electric spark that landed on the top of the hotels thatched bush bar.
