The Growing Media Industry In Nnewi And The Anaedonline Example.

Called the billionaires’ city, Nnewi, one of the viable commercial towns in Anambra State due to it’s business of (Motor/Motorcycle Spare Parts) activities is fast developing and opening windows of more business opportunities especially for the creative sector of the economy.

Aside from the industries and markets, other businesses which can be a source of employment to a lot of people are slowly breaking new ground in Nnewi.

One of the businesses that are seriously gaining ground in Nnewi is the media industry. With the growing Nnewi population and the developmental status of the town, the need for residents and those in the diaspora to know the happenings within the town has become a major demand.

From newspaper to radio and online media, various media outfits are now exploiting the opportunities in the industrial and commercial town of Nnewi.

Through some of their programmes designed on topical issues, the station engages experts/resource persons as guests who are able to explain and make clear issues in their areas of expertise. Though the local content programmes of the radio are still very poor, the barely two years old radio station is making an impact.

Late last year, the highly respected media chieftain and an intellectual powerhouse in the Nigerian media industry, Mr. Cornel Osigwe, in a bid to redefine the media industry in Nnewi, opened the biggest Nnewi media platform called Anaedoonline, the media outfit has Anaedoonline.com for blogging it’s news and other feature stories, Anaedo TV. for visuals and Switch Online which is in charge of digital media marketing, Corporate Communications and Public Relations, With Fresh Minds Being the Umbrella Company.

Under the directorship of Ogemdi Udegbunam, Anaedoonline.com contains 60% of daily Nnewi news updates, viewpoints, feature articles, and essays. Their news is published on their website, Anaedoonline.com and social media handle of Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Instagram.
