England vs Cameroon (FIFA Women’s World Cup) And The Controversies
England vs Cameroon ended in favor of the British side in controversial circumstances.
Steph Hughton, Ellen White and Alex Greenwood scored a goal each for Phil Neville’s side
There were several Video Assistant Referee (VAR) calls which changed the course of the round of 16 clash. England vs Cameroon has so far been the most controversial game in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in France as the game ended 3-0 in favor of the British side.

Though Phil Neville’s team won the match by 3-0, there were certain calls by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) that made a lot of Cameroon players out of control. England were awarded a free-kick inside the penalty box after Annette Ngo Ndom picked up a back pass from Augustine Ejangue.

Ejangue then vented her frustrations on Toni Duggan as she spat on the England attacker which the Cameroonian got away with.
Steph Hughton’s scored the resulting indirect free kick in the 14th minute to give her side a 1-0 lead. England got the second through Ellen White but the referee’s assistant had ruled for an offside but they replayed showed that the striker was not in an offside position.
The goal was given after a long wait from VAR confirmation but the Cameroon players protested and told the Chinese referee Liang Qin to check the replay herself which she refused.

Tempers flared as the Cameroonians refused to continue the match as they stayed out for three minutes, but they were persuaded to get back onto the pitch by their coach Alain Djeumfa as the first half ended 2-0.
Two minutes after the restart Ajara Nchout pulled one back from West African side, but after confirmation from the VAR, the striker was marginally offside and the Cameroonians let their emotions get the better of them.
They staged another walk out before returning into the game and that did not stop the Lionesses from getting their third goal. A brilliant low corner from Duggan was hit first-time of Alex Greenwood to give England an unassailable 3-0 lead.
The game was later marred with rough tackles from the Africans, but England held on to book their place in the quarter finals.
