Afia-Olu Nnewi Festival: Organizers Assure Tourists, Residents of Safety.(Photos)
Chairman of 2019 Afia-Olu Nnewi Festival, Hon. Prince Moses Obi, has assured tourists, visitors and residents of Nnewi of their safety ahead of the New Yam Festival.
Hon. Moses gave the assurance while speaking to Anaedonline.com on the preparation of his committee towards the festival.
According to him, security will be intensified in all flash points of the industrial and commercial city of Nnewi, in order to frustrate any attempt by miscreants who may have plans to use the festival to engage in crimes or violence.

He stressed that the safety and security of visitors and residents in the Nnewi is assured before, during and after the annual festival.
He said that his committee, the vigilante, police, and other relevant agencies, are already strategizing to make the festival a peaceful one.
Speaking on other security arrangement, he said, “We have decided to number all the masquerades in this year’s festival, all the masquerades must be registered for identity purpose”
“We want to avoid further deaths in Afia-Olu Nnewi Festival, we cannot continue to record deaths in the festival, we are working on other security measures to ensure that the festival is crime free”
He, however, advised youths to stay away from any activities that could lead to their arrest by the securities agencies.
