Nnewi: Akaboezem Youths Launches ‘Youth Trust Fund’ to celebrate Youth Day (Photos)

Despite the heavy downpour, the Youths of Akaboezem during the weekend deferred the rains to celebrate her Youth Day.

The event which had the presence of Obi Akaboezem Uruagu Nnewi, Chief (Pharm.) Barr. Benjamin Chukwuka (Obidioramma) also was dedicated to honour prominent sons and daughters of Akaboezem Uruagu Nnewi, for the various contribution to the town especially as it concerns the youths.

In his opening remarks, the President General of Akaboezem Youth Home & Abroad, Prince Okwuchukwu Ernest Atueyi (Alive Merchandise), said that the day was dedicated not only to celebrate the youths, but was targeted at celebrating prominent sons and daughters of Akaboezem who have distinguished themselves in their respective field of endeavours.

He said that the event was also designed to officially launch the ‘Youth Trust Fund’ for the youths in the community. According to him, the Trust Fund will harness the energy of young people around the Akaboezem Community to contribute to achieving development goals while enhancing their own lives.

Speaking further, he said that the trust fund will provide the financial support for the voluntary activities of the youths in the community.

He, however, called for support especially from privileged individuals within and outside the community.

Speaking during the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Entrepreneurship, Mobilization and Strategy, Hon. Prince Nnamsom Nwafor-Orizu, praised the leadership of Akaboezem youths for their efforts in community development.

According to the Governor’s aide, the Governor Willie Obiano led administration remains committed to developing and giving the youths opportunities to explore. He said that the Governor have continued to give the youth’s support through different government policies, programmes and appointments.

He however promised to facilitate the registration of Akaboezem Youth Movement in the State Ministry of Youth, which will enable the youths of the community to get more government support.

During the event, some distinguished sons and a daughter of Akaboezem Uruagu Nnewi Community bagged different awards.

The awards recipients include the Chief Executive Officer of Ekeson Transport, Chief Eugene E. Nzom Ojukwu (Odinanwa Nnewi), Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Kingsley Muoghalu, the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, His Lordship, Rt. Revd. Prosper Amah (JP), Founder and President Emeritus of Akaboezem Youth Movement, Hon. Chioma Ikeh (Chyoma), Mr. Vicmanuel Oruche (Osieike), the Director of Ngozi Maternity, Mrs. Ngozi Okeke and Sir. Tochukwu Zeph Nwosu.
