Ndubuisi Obi Enthroned As Bishop Of Nnewi.

It was a day of jubilation, today, Friday, September 27th, 2019, for Nnewi Christian Community as Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi was enthroned as the second Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi.

Bishop Ndubuisi Obi who was elected as Bishop of Nnewi Diocese on Wednesday, 21st August 2019, and was consecrated as Bishop on Monday 23rd September 2019, replaced the retired Archbishop of Niger Province and Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, His Grace, The Most Rev. Prof. Godwin Okpala (OON, JP).

At the Service in the Cathedral Church of St. Mary’s Uruagu Nnewi,
the New Bishop was installed by the Archbishop of Niger Province, His Grace, the Most Rev. Alex Ibezim, who is also serving as the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Awka.

He was assisted by other Bishops and the legal team. After the enthronement process, he received the Diocesan Pastoral Staff at the entrance of the sacrarium.

Delivering his first homily as Bishop, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, called on the clergy and laity of the Diocese to join him in building a virile diocese through a commitment to God’s service and aggressive evangelism.

According to him, Christians should consider Evangelism as a responsibility and work which was mandated by God, he said that the world is waiting for Igbos to wake up to lead global Evangelism.

Speaking further, he said that with Evangelism, he will build a Diocese and individuals who will control the spiritual, economic, social and political space.

Speaking during the service, the Archbishop of the Province of Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Grace, the Most Rev. Alex Ibezim, called on Christian in Nnewi and Environs to support the new Bishop for the progress of the Diocese.

He described Bishop Ndubuisi Obi as a servant who God has prepared to take the Diocese to the next level.

He, however, urged the Bishop to carry everyone along to the Glory of God.

Archbishops and Bishops present during the enthronement service includes the retired Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, His Grace the Most Rt. Prof. GIN Okpala, the Bishop of Niger Diocese, His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Owen Nwokolo, the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Prosper Amah and many other Bishops.

The enthronement service attracted the Deputy Governor of Anambra, His Excellency, Dr. Nkem Okeke; the Senator Representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah; the Former Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba; the Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Budget and Implementation, Hon. Sir Melie Onyejepu.


Others are; the Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, His Royal Highness, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, the Traditional Ruler of Uruagu Nnewi, His Highness, Obi Afam Charles Obi, the Traditional of Umudim Nnewi, His Highness, Obi Benneth Okafor, the Traditional Ruler of Nnewichi, His Highness, Obi George Onyekaba, the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, Rev Dr. Ndubuisi John and other personalities.
