Ebonyi: Commissioner For Health Queries Resident Doctor, Close Down Another Substandard Health Facility.

Ebonyi State Commissioner for Health, Dr Daniel Umezurike has ordered the Chief Executive and Hospitals administrator of Onueke General hospital, Dr. John Nwachi to issue a query to the Resident doctor, Chidi Ehiem( Dr) for exhibiting non challant attitude towards his work.

The commissioner gave the order during an unscheduled inspection to the hospital on Friday by a team of health inspectors from the ministry.

Doctor Ehiem was not on duty at the time when the commissioner and his team arrived at the facility by 12 noon and met a lot of patients waiting to be attended to, but unfortunately, no doctor was on ground to attend to patients.

According to Dr. Umezurike, the state government through the ministry has stepped up monitoring and supervision of all the health facilities in the state both government and private-owned.

He expressed displeasure over the attitude of some health workers who are keened at frustrating the efforts of his administration while urging them to sit-up or have the government to contend with.

Consequently the commissioner Ordered for Dr. Ehiem to be Queried for allowing the facility environment to be unkept and for not coming to work up till 12 mid day without assigning anybody to stand in for him.

The team also visited some private facilities and primary health care centers situated within the environs .

However at Excellent imperial hospital and laboratory, Onueke, the commissioner ordered for the immediate closure of the facility as it did not meet up the standard of a private hospital.

“We have inspected the place and found out that it doesn’t meet the standard of a private hospital at all. so it should be closed down”.He said

When the team arrived at Ameka primary health care center, Okaleru a baby boy was delivered and named after the Dr Daniel Umezurike.
