Man Arraigned For Assaulting A Police Officer

One Emmanuel Okoro, a commercial motorcycle (Okada) rider in Ejigbo, has been arrested and arraigned before Ejigbo magistrate court for assaulting a police officer on traffic congestion control at NNPC junction Ejigbo.

It was said that due to the traffic congestion at the NNPC junction at about 7:30 pm, the DPO of Ejigbo Police Division, CSP Olabisi Okwuobi, led his men to control the traffic.

While on duty, Okoro, the Okada rider who was stopped for riding against the traffic (taking one way) attacked the police officer to avoid being arrested, he allegedly beat the police officer cutting off his necklace in the process.

He was subsequently arrested and charged to court for assaulting the police officer, Sgt. Ilyasu Adamu.

While appearing before the Ejigbo magistrate court, Okoro confessed to having committed the offense as the Prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, applied for a stringent bail condition for the accused.

The magistrate in charge, Mr. Teslim Shomade, after that granted him bail of N200,000 with two sureties with verified two years tax payment.

The matter was adjoined till December 2, 2019.
