The chairman of the organising committee being the former Governor of Imo State Dr. Ikedi Ohakim is presently on a tour of the affected states, securing the assurances of the said Governors to attend.
The affected states which were part of the old Eastern Region include; Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and the Ebonyi States respectively.
Recall that the immediate past Governor Rochas Okorocha abandoned the Ahiajoku lecture series, acknowledged by the old Eastern Region indigenes as a meeting point and where dynamics of the people’s culture and it’s a relationship with the affected states of the old Eastern Region.
As part of the preparations for the anniversary, Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State recently in Government Owerri unveiled the 40th-anniversary logo ahead of November 30, 2019 lecture series.

The unveiling was an opportunity to retell the story of the cultural festival which started more than 40 years ago. “Ahiajoku lecture series has transformed to a festival and later an institute”, said the governor.
The chairman of the 2019 Ahiajoku lecture planning committee and former Governor of Imo State Dr. Ikedi Ohakim who presented the logo to the governor explained that Ahiajoku has become a pan-Eastern Region festival that can be used to bring all the people of the old Eastern region together.
The Director-General of Ahiajoku Institute Dr. Amanze Obi revealed that Professor Echeruo MJC who presented the first lecture 40 years ago was already in the state from the United States of America to deliver the 40th-anniversary lecture.
According to Dr. Amanze, the selection of Echeruo was to have a proper review and synthesis of the journey so far. “As a man who set the tone for the lecture series, it is only appropriate to have Echeruo do a recap of 40 years after”.
