Government Seals Off First Bank In Abia. See Why

The Abia State Board of Internal Revenue, Tuesday, sealed off the Corporate head office of the First bank PLC which is located along Goods Shade, off Bank Road, Umuahia for non-payment of an outstanding sum of N 5,916,568.00 being the outstanding balance of Abia PLUC fees regarding the twenty-two (22) branches of the bank in Abia State for 2018 and 2019.

In an order from the High Court of Abia State which was made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital, the court ordered that an order be made mandating the defendant (First Bank) to remit or pay to the claimant (Abia State Internal Revenue Board) through Abia PLUC the outstanding sum of N 5,916,568.00 being the outstanding balance of their fees regarding First bank’s twenty-two (22) branches in Abia State for 2018-2019, respectively.

The matter is between the Abia State Internal Revenue Board and First Bank PLC.
