There is a new deadly disease on the loose globally called the Coronavirus, the WHO has released some facts to know about the deadly disease.

According to reports, the disease may have originated from a seafood market in Wuhan, a central city in China where wildlife was also traded illegally.

The WHO also says an animal source appears most likely to be the primary source of the outbreak.

At least 17 people are dead in China and more than 550 cases reported globally as the Wuhan coronavirus continues to spread throughout Asia and across the world.

The only known case in the United States is a Washington man who had traveled to Wuhan.

The FG of Nigeria has also been alert on the outbreak of the disease.

1. Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases.

2. There are about seven different coronaviruses that can infect people and make them sick.

3. Coronaviruses are common in many different species of animals, including camels and bats.

4. These viruses are transmitted between animals and people.

5. The MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) coronavirus, first reported in 2012 in Saudi Arabia, caused severe acute respiratory illness in most patients. It spread to at least 25 countries but only two cases have been reported in the U.S.from a type of camel to humans.

6. SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) was another deadly coronavirus. It was first reported in Asia in 2003. It spread to more than two dozen countries in North America, South America, Europe and Asia, but was contained by 2004.from civet cats to humans.

7. A novel coronavirus, which caused the recent outbreak and currently named 2019-nCoV, is a new strain that had not been previously identified in humans.
