Gov. Uzodinma Indicates Readiness To Pay N30,000 Minimum Wage To Imo Workers.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has assured workers in the state of the resolve of his administration to start payment of N30,000 minimum wage.

He promised that the payment would start as soon as the committee set up for that regard concludes its work.

The governor ensured that civil servants due for development would be improved with reasonable arrears that would also be paid.

Uzodinma who was on his working visit to the state Secretariat in the company of his deputy, Prof Placid Njoku, was received by the Imo State Head of Service, Dr. Camilus Chibuzo Iwuagwu, who supervised them round the State Secretariat and offices.

He told the Civil Servants that his administration came to restore hope to the state, interpreting them as the engine room of government that should not be disregarded.

The governor also promised to start the improvement of run-down capabilities at the Secretariat to enable the workers to function optimally.

it will be recalled that Leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress and government representatives  agreed on salary adjustment for N30,000 minimum wage. according to Minister of State for Labour Festus Keyamo.

After day three of their meeting start on Thursday night, both leaders of NLC and Nigeria goverment fail to agree on one main issue that concern 12 salary structures for civil service.

Workers on grade level 07 to 17 will now get between 14 and 23 percent salary increase while those on special salary will get between 23.2 and 10.5 percent for di same grade levels, according to di agreement.

Before the agreement, workers union were demanding 29 per cent increase for workers who were collect paid N30,000 and those on grade level 11 to 17 for civil service.
