“One is still at large. We thank you our brothers and sisters for your prayers in our travails. Kindly continue to pray for the remaining one and all those who are still in the hands of Kidnappers. Thanks and may God bless you all.”

The constant wave of abductions in Nigeria is raising fear across the country. In the past, it use to be mostly wealthy, influential figures, politicians who are mostly targeted, but now, anybody can be a victim.

Unlike kidnappings which take on political dimensions — such as those involving militants who agitate against oil companies in the south, or Islamic group Boko Haram in the north  this wave spans every region, and is driven largely by economic hardship.
