Minimum Wage: Is Governor Obiano Really Paying?

Reports from civil servants in Anambra state has confirmed the scandal rocking the botched Salary increment by Gov. Obiano on the media, citing he paid minimum wage in the month of January.

An undisclosed source, however, has reported to anaedoonline.ng that they are yet to receive the updated figures as published by the governor’s media team.

Further investigations revealed the governor added the meager sums of N1500, N2000 and N3000 to the salaries of civil servants using that as leverage to publicize himself on the media. Correspondence gathered the displeasure expressed by staff on their maltreatment, hinting the benefits other states were enjoying why they were treated as orphans begging for crumbs.

Several parastatals have met with the governor crumbs the said issue only to be met with shallow responses and promises.

It is pertinent to note that the agreement between Anambra State and Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) still stands regardless of Obiano’s default and he, therefore, has to fulfill his side of the bargain. It is also important to note that the difference in the minimum wage is up N13,000 and not the beggarly sum the governor is paying.

Recall the governor agreed to pay the minimum wage last year and he went ahead to blow up the media announcing he will start payment January 2020, surprisingly he couldn’t keep to his words.
