Gov. Ugwuanyi Inaugurated Community Based Road Maintenance Groups.

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensure speedy infrastructural development at grass-roots level.

Governor Ugwuanyi stated this when he inaugurated Community-Based Road Maintenance Groups for the Enugu state rural access and mobility projects in the state.

The governor maintained that rural access roads remain the lifeline of rural population, providing intra and inter village transport by connecting houses, homes and farms in various communities.

“My administration sees rural access roads as fundamental to the life of citizens in the rural area; hence rural development is among the 8 point agenda in this administration. This is why this administration has always pursued the issue of the development of our rural areas and making life more life meaningful to them with all vigour.

“We have maintained this by ensuring that all rural development outfits within Enugu state are made functional”.

“That is why this government has in spite of our lean financial resources maintained the payment counterpart funds to all projects”.

He disclosed that his administration in fulfillment of its promise to the World Bank released 400 million naira to Enugu rural access and mobility projects and has given approval for the 2020 counterpart funds of 337 million naira also for ramp projects across the state.

Governor Ugwuanyi who was represented by his deputy chief of staff, Professor Malachy Okwueze said his administration will expedite actions and set-up essential machineries to ensure full implementation of the second phase of ramp 2, full completion of the phase 2 roads and maintenance of newly rehabilitated roads within the state.

“I urged you not relent in ensuring that the funds being made available to the state through your projects are fully utilized for the intended purpose in other to ensure that rural communities for which the projects are meant, fully benefit from it.

“The state government on its part will put all machinery in motion to ensure that all contracts awarded by the projects are fully executed before the projects closing date of October 30th 2020.

“The contract will be fully monitored by the state as the state government has zero tolerance to abandonment of contracts
