Boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather Jnr, has broken his silence on American boxer, Deontay Wilder’s defeat to British fighter, Tyson Fury.

Anaedoonline reported that Fury knocked out Wilder in the 7th round at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA, in their rematch on Saturday night to regain the WBC world heavyweight title.

Mayweather, a fellow countryman with Wilder, said the 34-year-old is still a champion despite losing to Fury in Las Vegas.

Reacting to the development, Mayweather, in a post on his official Instagram page, wrote: “Win, Lose or Draw, Deontay is our brother that has accomplished many triumphs.

“As a community, we should all uplift and support him throughout it all. No matter what, you’re still a winner in my eyes, King!”

Adding his voice after the fight, Dillian Whyte claimed that Deontay Wilder has “poor boxing skills”, after the American was stopped by Tyson Fury last weekend.

Fury ripped away Wilder’s WBC belt with the win in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Whyte insists that Wilder cannot have any complaints after the loss, after the cornerman threw in the towel in the seventh round.

“You’ve got to get him on the back foot, you’ve got to get him thinking and trying to use his brain, because from a boxing standpoint, he hasn’t got a brain to use. His boxing skills are terrible.

“If you can evade his power punches and back him up, then he doesn’t know what to do, he gets lost, and that’s what I’ve been saying all this time,” Whyte told Sky Sports.

Whyte has already secured a guaranteed WBC title shot by February 2021 and admits he wants to face Fury next.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder faced each other again almost 15 months on from a controversial draw that left punters desperate for a re-run of their thrilling affair in Los Angeles.

Tickets in Las Vegas exchanged hands for thousands of dollars, the fighters are volleying spiteful words at one another with gusto and pundits who have frequented Sin City more times than they care to remember have labelled the occasion a “monster”.

On the Las Vegas Strip, fans payed $100 (£77) to watch on a big screen while the fight costed $74.99 (£58) to buy at home in the US, meaning $150m (£116m) could be raised before even accounting for ticket revenue. In terms of earnings, it will be an eight-figure night for both men.
