The agrarian community of Ugbawka in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State are still in awe over the discovery of a bomb at a Catholic Church in the area.

It was gathered that a former head of the neighbourhood watch in the area, Okwudili Chukwunweze, had observed strange movements of people around 1:00am between Saint James’ the Greater Catholic Church and a primary school in the area.

Chukwunweze was said to have alerted neighbours after which the person disappeared, leaving a strange object later found to be an explosive, behind.

Nwoye subsequently informed the DPO of Amagunze Police Division who identified the object to be a bomb.

The Anti-Bomb Squad from the Enugu State Criminal Investigation Department was later invited to detonate the explosive.

The transition committee chairman of the local government area, Okechukwu Ede, commended the police for their quick response and urged the people of the area to remain vigilant.

Recall that Ugbawka is one of the communities in Enugu state where a Catholic priest was killed by suspected herdsmen last year.
