Imo People Pray For Ihedioha’s Return (Photos)

Thousands of Imolites are now praying at Kanu Nwankwo Sports Centre, Owerri ahead of Supreme Court review of the Imo State governorship judgement.

They are praying to God for a reversal of the controversial January 14 decision and the return of their “beloved” governor, Emeka Ihedioha, who was sacked by the apex court in that judgement which sparked protests across the nation and globally.

The PDP and Ihedioha are, by the application, praying the court to, among others, reverse its judgment on January 14 this year, which sacked Ihedioha and replaced him with Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

At the mention of the case on Tuesday, Ihedioha’s lead lawyer, Kanu Agabi sought for time to enable parties file the necessary papers, a request other lawyers in the case did not object to.

A seven-man panel of the Supreme Court, led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, in a brief ruling, grant the request for adjournment and adjourned till March 2, 2020.

on the other hand, Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma and his party, the All Progressive Progressive Congress (APC) have asked the Supreme Court to disregard the request by the sacked candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Emeka Ihedioha for a review of its January 14, 2020 judgment.

The Supreme Court had, in judgement sacked Ihedioha and ordered that Uzodinma takes his place, a decision the former has applied to the apex court for a review, alleging that it was obtained by fraud.

In their joint response, sighted by The Nation on Sunday, Uzodinma and the APC are of the view that the request by Ihedioha and the PDP amounts to a mere academic exercise and an affront to the nation’s Constitution.
