Coronavirus: Joro Olumofin Shaves Beards Due To Fear Of Disease

A report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had revealed that beards can prevent face masks and respirators from working.

A popular relationship expert and Instagram blogger Joro Olumofin have taken a preventive measure to take care of his health due to the spread of Coronavirus. It was recently reported that the first case of the virus was confirmed in Nigeria.

It was reported that the case was confirmed on Thursday, February 27, by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. It was gathered that the virus was brought into the country by an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria.

The Italian citizen returned to Nigeria on Tuesday, February 25. Now, Olumofin has joined other Nigerians taking preventive measures to protect them from contracting the disease.

Olumofin, who is known for his beards, decided to shave it off after he discovered that beards may make it more likely to catch coronavirus.

He shared a photo of himself at the barbing salon shaving his beards on his Instagram page. He captioned the post, saying he cried before they shaved it.

The way a man styles his facial hair has more to do with fashion and personality than health. However, according to top health officials in the United States, your facial hair can be better for protecting yourself from coronavirus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released an infographic that shows how different facial styles can prevent face masks and respirators from sealing against the face thereby putting you at risk of coronavirus.

The chart which was initially released in 2017 resurfaced after a top CDC official warned on Tuesday that it’s no longer ‘a question of if…but when’ the coronavirus will spread in the US.

The infographic lists 36 different facial hairstyles ranging from clean-shaven to a Fu Manchu moustache that hangs below the chin.
