Agbo-Edo Motor Spare Parts Dealers Kick Starts Tournament

It was a thrilling, entertaining and exciting game as the Agbo-Edo Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association (AMSPDA Nnewi) kickstarts “Oje na Muo” challenge Cup 2020.

The Opening game  was played at the Nnewi High School football field between Zone 6 versus Zone 7.

After a very tight and exciting game, Zone 6 defeated Zone 7 by a goal to nil.

The sponsor of the tournament, Rev. Fr. Martin Unadike (Oje na Muo) in his speech, said ‘The tournament is meant to promote love and progress. It is an avenue to unite Ndi Nnewi and also strengthen the friendship, brotherhood, and to keep fit.

Fr. Unadike(Popularly called, Father Oje na muo) urged the motor spare parts dealers to shun and neglect any form of fraud as they transact their businesses. He also eulogised them to be truthful, Be genuine and have integrity. Promotion and wealth comes from God alone.

He expressed his delight in the harmony the traders are enjoying and said to the them that he still have future plans for Agbo-Edo Motor Spare Parts Dealers. He will meet with the executives so that they will discuss on a way to enroll those who cannot read and write into adult education. He promised to sponsor the education of those that will be interested to improve themselves and are willing to learn. We can run it for the next ten years.

He prayed for the success of the tournament and an injury free one.

Speaking to reporters, Fr. Unadike said ‘These tournament will be held yearly and i know it will grow bigger. Hopefully, other markets will be included subsequently by Gods grace.

‘For 12 years now, i have funded a lot of charity. charity is easy, it is not as difficult as people think. The first step to charity is having the willingness to do it. We budgeted about two million to make these tournament successful. If you decide to do things for people, God will prepare a way to make it happen.’

Chairman AMSPDA, Hon Dennis Ikegwuonu (Onyesis) in an interview with reporters expressed his satisfaction in the success recorded in the opening match. He commended the sponsor for the initiative.

On the plans to organize adult education for traders as promised by Fr. Unadike, Ikegwuonu admitted that illiteracy is one of the biggest setbacks business men encounter. Some of the traders have little or no knowledge on education due to their poor family background, or other reasons that was not their making. It has affected many from growing due to lack of not being able to express themselves through writing.

Chairman, Nnewi North Football Association, Chief Okonkwo in his address, thanked the sponsor of the tournament. He urged the players to portray the spirit of sportsmanship through fair play.

Chairman organizing committee of the competition, Amobi Micheal Okeke, expressed joy over the football competition. He also praised the sponsor and the chairman of AMSPDA, saying that the tournament will go a long way in strengthening the association considering the fact that it is the first edition.

The football games are scheduled to hold every Tuesdays and Thursdays by 5pm. All games will be played at the Nnewi High school field
