Nnewi Library, the only functional library has closed down.

According to an investigation carried out by Anaedoonline.com, the library which is managed by Anambra State Library Board was closed down since December of 2019.

The library which is inside a private building owned by Nnewi Youth League (NYL), is the only library serving Nnewi, after the closure of Onestop Bookshop and Library, Nnewichi Nnewi, owned by Mazi Tobe Osigwe.

According to a constant visitor of the library who pleaded anonymity, the library was closed down due to the ongoing renovation of the hall, which started late last year, however, a visit to the library by our correspondent shows no sign of construction work going on in the said building.

Before now, checks by our correspondent revealed that the indiscriminate parking of vehicles along the road on a daily basis which causes heavy gridlock has turned the premises of the Library into a noisy motor park added to the problem of the library is the leasing of the empty space upstairs to two churches: The Redeemed Christian Church of God and Soteria Bible Church.

While many have advocated for the relocation of the library based on the location analysis, the closure of the library remains a surprise.
