Why I Accepted Honorary Doctorate Degree From Ebonyi State University – Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto

– Calls Ebonyi his Second Home State
– Promise to Fund “Ibeto Chair” in the School

Stating reasons why he accepted to be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Ebonyi State University, Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto said “I consider Ebonyi State to be my adopted home State since it is home to NIGERCEM which very soon will be rolling out Ibeto Portland Cement.

The investment of Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto Group in Nkalagu will generate an estimated 5000 jobs directly, several thousand more, indirectly. And the vast majority of these jobs will be filled by indigenes of Ebonyi State, our State”.

It was all Glamour yesterday, Saturday, March 14th, 2020 as Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto was conferred Honorary Doctorate Degree on Business Administration, Honoris Causa by Ebonyi State University.

The event was witnessed by the presence of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr Dave Umahi and some members of the State Executive Council, the Vice-Chancellor, EBSU and other Management and Staff of the University. Other guests that came to celebrate with Chief Dr. Cletus Ibeto are The Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, Igwe KON Orizu, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma(Ifediaso Nnewi), Chief Gabriel Chukwuma(Nnayelugo) Prof Chukwuma Soludo, Pete Edozie, Ernest Obiora, Chief Chika Emenike, Engr Ilozue(Chicason ED), Bar Emeka Etiaba SAN, Barr. Echezona Etiaba SAN, Chief Barr. Oseloka Osigwe, Chief Godwin Uzoeto (Adamu), Mr. Humphrey Ngonadi, Mr. Ugochukwu Udemezue, Mr. Emma Uba(Emma Aba) Dr. Ben Aghazu, Mr. Cosmas Ngonadi, and many others.

Ibeto during his remarks stated that following the commissioning of a new cement plant at Nkalagu, that he will fulfill a life-long obligation by financing an Endowed Chair in a technical department of the University with the sum of N250 million naira.

“What this means is that we will provide the sum of money and it will be invested by the University. The annual earnings from that investment will be sufficient to pay the salary and allowances of the distinguished Professor appointed to and occupying, that academic Ibeto Chair and annually provide a reasonable sum of money to that Professor for research purposes. By the grace of God, this will go on far into the unseen future”.
