A young girl from Delta State, Vera Akpan, has written to President Muhammadu Buhari to request for how to donate her saving of N2,350 for the fight against the coronavirus.
Akpan, 8, said she had planned to donate the money to an orphanage home in Warri, Delta, but thought it would be more appropriate to use it in supporting the fight agsinst the ravaging virus.
“I’m not from a rich home but God kept us going. I have a savings box, where I presently have N2350 I wanted to donate to an orphanage home in Warri, Delta State. But, the need of the country is vital to me. The money is very little, but please accept it from me as a child,” she wrote.

She is one of millions of schoolchildren nationwide affected by the lockdown caused by the pandemic.
High-profile individuals who have donated to the cause are Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Herbert Wigwe, Segun Agbaje, Tim Ovie, Atiku Abubakar, Tuface Idibia among others.
