• The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on Friday said it was not satisfied by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s reasons for inviting a medical team from China.

The NMA pointed out what it called discrepancies in the statement issued by the company which funded the trip, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and comments made by the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire.

• Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has informed Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari was worried about their well-being amid the lockdown across many states.

He assured that plans were underway to improve their welfare as the nation goes through a lull in economic activities.

• The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has relocated to the North East to monitor and direct the overall operation in the theatre and other army operations across the country.

Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, in a statement on Friday, said that Buratai revealed this while speaking to the troops of Special Super Camp Ngamdu in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno on Thursday.

• The Lagos State government, on Friday, announced the discharge of seven patients who had tested negative twice for Coronavirus.

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his Twitter page said the total number of patients discharged was now 46.

• The Minister of the FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has approved the increment of hazard allowance for doctors, nurses, lab scientist, pharmacist, drivers and cleaners in Abuja.

According to a statement by the FCT Health Secretary, Dr. Kawu, the daily hazard fees for #COVID19 frontline health workers in the FCT, has been increased to N50,000 for Medical Doctors, N30,000 for Nurses, Lab Scientists, Pharmacists: N30,000 and N20,000 daily for cleaners, wards head and drivers.

• The World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Africa in Brazzaville, has confirmed a case of Ebola in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The UN’s health agency, who disclosed this on its official twitter account @WHOAFRO on Friday said, “One new case of Ebola was confirmed today by surveillance and response teams in the North Eastern of DRC after 52 days without a case.

• The Nigerian government has released the names of Nigerians who died from Coronavirus (COVID-19) complications in other countries.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who doubles as chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) said those who lost their lives to the deadly virus are 13 in number.

• Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites, have called for the immediate release of its leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, and wife, Zeenat, from the Kaduna correctional facility.

In a statement issued by President, Media Forum of the IMN, Ibrahim Musa, on Saturday, he said it became necessary to release El-Zakzaky and his wife due to the epidemic threatening the entire world.
