Police Train Officers On COVID-19 Prevention In Anambra

The Nigeria Police Medical Services Anambra State Command in collaboration with National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Today 21/4/2020  organised a one day training for Police health officers on COVID-19 “infection prevention and control” in Anambra State.

The aim of the training was to enable Police health officials with the basic skills needed to prevent the spread of the dreaded corona virus among officers and men of the Nigeria Police Train Staff On COVID-19 Prevention In Anambra Force who are at the forefront in the enforcement of Government order against the spread of COVID-19 which has become a global pandemic.

While addressing participants during the training session at the Command Conference hall,the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc enjoined them to pay attention to the training in order to get the requisite knowledge about the deadly virus and how to prevent it’s spread through prevention and control measures for the benefits of the entire officers and men in the Command.

The training was facilitated by Dr Jane Ezeonu of NCDC and the Command Medical Officer CSP Dr Emelike Chinenyen.

Anaedoonline.com reported that In a special Media Briefing held on Monday, 13th April 2020, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Ugochukwu Okpala gives a factual account of Anambra’s COVID-19 Index Case, how it was detected and how the state has managed the situation so far.

In respect of preparedness of the State against the spread of Corona Virus, he pointed that the COVID-19 Action Team which His Excellency, Governor Willie Mmaduaburochukwu Obiano chairs, has done a lot to make sure the virus did not get into the state up until last Friday. “We did a lot of work in infection prevention and control, surveillance, awareness campaign and we have been successful,” he said.

Gov. Obiano went an extra step to start putting in place strategies that will help in disease containment. These strategies were; the lockdown that we experienced, the school closures, the moves made by leaders of religious organizations, the advisory that discouraged handshaking and other forms of contact salutation.
